When reporting a potentially malicious e-mail, it is helpful to have a copy of the original message to investigate the source and take any necessary action. To do this, you will need to save a copy of the message
Exporting a message in Microsoft Outlook (Windows)
- Highlight the message which you wish to export in your Inbox
- Click "File" in the upper left hand corner of the screen
- Choose "Save As" from the left-hand menu bar
- Name the message to submit and click "Save"
- Attach the saved message to your e-mail when reporting a malicious message
- Be sure to delete the saved file once you have sent your report
Exporting a message in Outlook Web App
- Highlight the message you wish to export in your inbox
- Click on the "three-dot" menu in the upper right hand corner of the message
- Choose the "Save" option
- Drag and drop the downloaded message file into your e-mail when reporting a suspicious message
- Be sure to delete the downloaded file once you have sent your report
