Enrolling a Security Key for Microsoft Authenticator

In order to use your new security key to sign in to your organization’s resources, you must first go through a one-time enrollment process to add it to your account. To enroll:

  1. Visit the Security Info page for your Microsoft 365 account

  2. Choose Add sign-in method

  1. From the drop-down list, choose Security Key

  1. Choose the type of security key you wish to enroll for your account

    1. In most scenarios, USB device should be chosen to enroll your key

  1. Choose Next

  1. If you are enrolling a brand new security key, you will be asked to create and confirm a new PIN to protect the key. You will need to enter this number each time you use the key

    1. If you are enrolling a security key you already use for other purposes, please enter your existing PIN

  1. Tap the button on your security key (if equipped) to finalize the enrollment

  1. Your browser may prompt you to allow the use of the security key. If prompted, choose Allow

  1. When prompted, provide a descriptive name for your security key. If you have multiple keys, make sure this name is unique. When finished, choose Next

  1. Congratulations! You have successfully enrolled your security key for use at your organization!
