When intermittent/unstable internet connectivity prevents you from using the default Microsoft Authenticator approval prompts, there are several alternative methods you can use to gain access to your account.
Option 1: Using a Generated Code from Microsoft Authenticator
- On the Microsoft login page, select “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now”
- Select “Use a verification code from my mobile app”
- Open Microsoft Authenticator on your phone, then tap your company's name
- Note the One-time password code with the countdown timer, you have until the timer runs out to enter the code to log in to your account. This code changes every 30 seconds and is different for each account. Enter this code to log in to your account.
- Click Verify and you are now fully authenticated!
Option 2: Receive an automated text message from Microsoft
- On the Microsoft login page, select “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now”
- Select “Text +X XXXXXXXX[last two digits of your phone number]”
- Open your messages app on your cell phone, then find the message from automated Microsoft containing the authentication code. This code changes every few minutes and is different for each account. Enter this code to log in to your account.
- Click Verify and you are now fully authenticated!
Option 3: Receive an automated phone call from Microsoft
- On the Microsoft login page, select “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now”
- Select “Call +X XXXXXXXX[last two digits of your phone number]”
- Answer the automated incoming call on your cell phone, then press the pound (#) key when prompted. The call will automatically end a few seconds after the pound key is pressed. Your account will automatically verify!
